It’s been a while since I last posted on here, but I’ve been so busy with Uni work that I just haven’t had a chance.

I’ve finally made excellent progress over the last few days, and here is the fruits of my labour!

Okay, so I don’t think it is the best out there, but by heck, I am proud of the work.  The only problem is that modelling is such a long process, it makes going into extra detail a hassle (same with Web Design).

Either way, I am very much going to submit these models, and maybe another (more detailed) version.

The idea was to have a Base Model, however, I was instructed to make the body and head separate as I can get more details on both parts.
For instance, the body is a Sub-Divide 5, and the head Sub-Divide 8.

The eyes were tricky…
I’m not too sure what exactly is needed for the base model (eyes, hair?) as we’re supposed to use the Base Model over and over again, and in the animation lectures, the eyes were a separate object to the model for animation purposes.

The good news is that after this Monday (4PM GMT), the only assignment I have is my game, which is due 12 December… giving me plenty of time to calm down

Saying that, the Final Character Animation is due 20 January, so my three weeks off will be spent doing that!

Its a shame really, since I wanted to post more on this blog (as I said a while back), but the work-load has been completely different from last year, it’s not really the same thing (all the work is for Assignments, and very close deadlines).

Perhaps I’ll re-do the work from the weeks previous and upload

Either way, I was given a model and a selection of sound files to use to make this animation to display show how I can animate the mouth to the words.  The sound file probably wasn’t the best choice (less than four seconds and cut at the start); a repeat is definitely needed

Comparing with previous revisions, you may notice that he now has a short sword in the design.  This is simply due to aesthetics (as the sword isn’t overly fancy).

Nothing special; I tried a bit of colouring to highlight the different sections of armour, but the scan didn’t work out too well.

This was originally going to be the side view (see feet), but ended as a three-quarter (ish) view

Harder than I thought; I had to reference various poses to get it near what I wanted; I’m thinking about buying one of those artists doll things which you can pose.

Uni has now started again (that being I had my induction yesterday) and we’ve been told what our main focus and assignments are for the semesters.
First year is all about character development; we have to create a character, model it, and then ‘game resolution-ise’ it.  Seems simple enough…
Second year is a group project, however this time it is more focused and we’re given a specific task to do.  Sounds like fun.

Either way, I am happy for the first semester, as I know exactly what character to do… me!

This guy has some proper skill!  If only I could draw as well as him I’d enjoy my Uni course so much more

I could re-do assignments lost, and write up tutorials for them to post here; I could hone my skills with new projects; I’m even tempted to start writing again (I like my imagination).
Though if I had the internet, I could play around with tethering my phone, or play around with WiFi access (did you know WEP is easy to crack?); then again, there are the websites I want to make (make myself a testing server and make some layouts)

Its just too warm! And time is knocking on now… And before that, I want to get in touch with clients and make sure everything is fine before Miami (Wednesday!)

It is ridiculous!

I’ve been going at it for at least thirty minutes, logging in and off and just generally waiting; even when some FOOL leaves the match, then the rest of us have to wait for ages! (funny thing is, it is usually the same player who re-joins; noobs)
It seems that bad that people are requesting that I play with them!

What I hate most is when you get into a game it’s all Level 50, and the swine kill you seconds (and I mean seconds) before you kill your target; or steal your contracts.

I can usually get a big enough score when I get into the zone, but it’s damn hard!
Some of the game modes are just unfair!  I get stunned and then the same guy kills me, right there and then!

Right now I have two Profile Sets:

I’m only Level 14, and probably won’t be given the chance to level up any time soon

Overall…

It’s crap!
The game is definitely worth playing, even the multiplayer when you get a good game (rather than being overran with over-powered players).  Though I do have to say some game modes are just dreadful; the team games are rubbish as your team mates usually leave you hung out and left to dry (though sometimes you get idiot team-members, no matter which game).  Other games are so difficult you need to be level 50 just to stand a chance (and only because you would have had enough practise in them anyway).

UbiSoft really need to get their act together or just quit… at life.
